Episode 183: Sick Turns on Rainbow Road [Mario Kart 64]

Nothing says "family friendly racing" like driving down a highway at rush hour while lobbing projectiles at your unwary friends!  Now with 80% less eye bleeding, Mario Kart is back.  In addition to slightly better racing, battle stages add some variety to the mix by allowing to do what you really want in a racing game: duke it out in an arena with some bananas.  Karting just got serious!

Seeking its way onto your computer like a red shell.

Episode 182: Kremkoin For Your Thoughts? [Donkey Kong Country 2]

More fun than an armed gorilla movement!  Diddy, the chimpanzee, must rescue his best bud from the evil K. Rool's clutches, and restore the traditional heir of the island to his banana throne.  With the help of Dixie, Diddy's mutant girlfriend, they'll wade their way through the reptile armies and surprisingly visually diverse landscapes.  Monkey joke!

More fun than a barrel full of bits!

Show Notes

(03:30) How is this a warrior?

(06:45) Spoiler for Zestiria, a game you're not likely to play.

(15:00) HELLDIVE!

(18:00) Pepsi rangers.  Some spoilers for Power Rangers (the new movie) ending around 21:30 if you're worried.

(25:40) Yes, there was a Battletech cartoon.  Yes, it looks awful.  So does the DnD cartoon.  Wake up, Kid Icarus!

(28:50) More DnD stories in case anyone wants them.

(33:30) Because we're terrible 90s kids, the song we can't remember is All The Small Things.

(35:30) Monkey business.

(37:00) New fan theory: K. Rool is funded by the Mushroom Kingdom.

(42:00) "Tightness"

(43:00) Unsurprisingly, wire frames were used for the base character models.  Still cannot find a video of this ever happening to anyone else, though.

(45:00) To clarify, DK Coins, while objectively cooler, only increase the rank Cranky gives you.  Kremkoins let you access the bonus levels.

(46:30) K-rank-y Kong.

Episode 181: Cool Guy Pose [Contra III: The Alien Wars]

When the situation is bad, it's time to get rad!  When you need revenge, you should attack aggressively, which is exactly what not-Jimmy and not-Bimmy intend to do on their testosterone fueled rampage against their alien bureaucrats.  Avoid timed obstacles, fight almost-3D bosses, and generally be a bad enough dude to survive!

Double laser download!

Episode 180: You Build Your Walls, I Dig My Hole [Stronghold]

Good fences make good neighbors, and better walls make corpses of your enemies!  Manage the happiness of your ingrate peasant population as you try to stave off endless attacks from your political rivals.   It's easier if they're entertained, though, so train that one bear the hunters brought back to dance, and see if that gets them off your back for a while.  What's that sign say?  Wolves in 10 minutes?

Boiling tar on your downloads!

Show Notes

(01:45) Proving that we live in the worst Star Wars AU.

(03:15) Alex won the Great Island 'Dex Completion Challenge.  Also Ed.

(05:00) Generic villains, represent.

(07:45) Apparently, you can also say "March 9th as Miku", so obviously this happened.

(08:45) So... shiny!

(13:30) Europa, for the interested, is apparently the mother of the Minotaur.  Contrast with Europea.

(19:15) Too much moe.

(24:30) In case y'all don't know what a Caesar cipher is.  It's named this way because Julius actually used it to protect military intelligence.

(30:00) Food!  Farming wheat: OP and supply-chain accurate.

(34:30) We were all wrong.  Pikes are long spears meant for blocking horses, and a halberd is a spear with an ax on the end.

(48:00) Celebrating the rank and file.
